PUBLIC POLICY / ENVIRONMENTAL STEWARDSHIP
Beyond describing a crisis.
Developing ways to address it.
Ocean Star contributed its expertise toward developing substantive solutions to a problem affecting hundreds of thousands of people.
For decades, sewage-contaminated flows across the U.S.–Mexico border have threatened public health, the Tijuana River Valley, and coastal communities in Southern California. The challenge involves far more than explaining an environmental problem: it calls for understanding infrastructure, government authority, international responsibilities, financing, and the institutions capable of acting.
Working with former Congressman Brian Bilbray, Ocean Star has helped develop the Bilbray Border Plan and the proposed Cross-Border Sewage Accountability and Coastal Protection Act. Its contributions have spanned environmental and infrastructure research, policy concepts, proposed federal mechanisms, strategic communications, media relations, government briefings, and engagement with officials. The proposals seek practical pathways forward; they are not enacted legislation or completed government programs.
A COMMITMENT REFLECTED IN THE WORK
Capability is one measure.
Character is another.
Ocean Star chose to contribute significant professional resources to this effort because environmental stewardship, conservation, and public service matter to the firm. Its qualifying pro-bono contributions represent more than $100,000 in estimated professional-service value, excluding separate subsequent executive-order work.
We believe an organization’s values should be visible in what it does. If these are qualities you value in a strategic partner, perhaps Ocean Star is for you.
